February 26, 2024The 2024 Toyota Crown is now in its second year and, so soon after its debut, returns without major changes. Much like the Avalon that it replaced, the Crown is a bit of a tweener: not quite a full-size sedan but larger than a typical midsize sedan. But Toyota has done a lot to make it different from most other sedans, including giving it a tall profile, an available two-tone paint job, and standard hybrid power.

Traffic Jam Assist
Get through congested roads without a hitch. Only on controlled-access highways, and with a required Drive Connect subscription, available Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) helps keep a smooth, steady ride by using a front-mounted radar unit, cameras, and sensors to detect vehicles ahead and automatically adjust the Toyota Crown to their speeds. TJA accelerates and decelerates the vehicle on its own, without driver intervention; it can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop and resume driving when the traffic ahead moves, helping make traffic jams a little more bearable. TJA also incorporates Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), which helps keep the vehicle centred in a lane, even around a curve.
Panoramic View Monitor
Toyota Crown’s available Panoramic View Monitor helps you check your surroundings for hazards. It uses four cameras, one on each side of the vehicle, to display a panoramic view on the touchscreen display. When you’re parked and using the Moving View setting, Toyota Crown creates an animated virtual view from above to give you a bigger picture of what’s around.
Digital Key Capability
With a Remote Connect subscription, you can use the Toyota app to let your smartphone and smartwatch act like your keys. You can lock and unlock doors, heat the cabin on cold winter mornings, and even share your keys with a friend—all from inside the app.
Wireless Charging
The Toyota Crown’s tech-focused cabin was designed to be completely wireless. With an intuitively placed charging slot in the centre console, simply place your Qi-compatible device down and the battery will start charging up.
Toyota Audio Multimedia System

PERFORMANCE
Hybrid MAX Powertrain
Underneath the Toyota Crown’s cutting-edge design is an available Hybrid MAX powertrain. This available powertrain pairs Toyota Crown’s 2.4L turbocharged engine with electric motors, generating an exceptional 340 combined net horsepower with 400 lb.-ft. of torque. The dynamic placement of the electric motors between the engine and transmission allows for power to be transferred without any lag. The result? 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds. So, whether merging onto the freeway or driving down city streets, the second you feel the instantaneous torque across the power band, you’re ready to take on the day.
Traditional Hybrid Power and Efficiency
The Toyota Crown XLE and Limited are equipped with a highly efficient hybrid system that features a high-output bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery that provides 236 combined net horsepower. The Toyota Crown has a remarkable combination of power and efficiency, with an EPA-estimated 41 mpg combined rating.
Sensational Performance
Driving through city streets, the Toyota Crown’s electrified powertrain quickly and quietly accelerates. Its available Hybrid MAX powertrain comes equipped with a high-output water-cooled rear motor; this innovative eAxle creates the exhilarating feeling you’re being pushed from behind as you step on the accelerator. On twists and turns, its available adaptive variable suspension reads the road and adjusts in real time to help maximize handling. Every element of the Toyota Crown’s advanced engineering creates a refined and responsive drive that puts this sedan a cut above the competition.
Driving Confidence
Advanced capability, standard. Toyota Crown’s standard All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system automatically supplies power to the rear wheels to help improve traction. The Hybrid MAX powertrain with Full-Time Electronic All-Wheel Drive adjusts between a 70/30 and 20/80 front-and rear-wheel power split for more precise control, while the traditional hybrid powertrains use Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive to send up to 80% of power to the rear wheels for more muscle, or automatically operate in FWD mode to optimize fuel efficiency. When driving through less than perfect road conditions, both advanced systems give you the peace of mind to power through.
SAFETY AND CONVENIENCE
Blind Spot Monitor With Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist
Standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) is designed to help look out for other vehicles. Blind Spot Monitor warns you when a vehicle in the next lane enters the Toyota Crown’s blind spot on either side of the vehicle. With Safe Exit Assist, if the system determines there may be a collision with a door opening, an audible alert sounds and a visual alert appears on the outside mirrors. When you’re in reverse, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helps detect vehicles approaching from either side, warning you with side mirror indicators and a warning tone.
Lane Change Assist
The Toyota Crown is equipped to assist with lane changes. By partially engaging the turn signal, available Lane Change Assist confirms there are no vehicles in your way and provides steering assistance into the next lane.
Front Cross-Traffic Alert
Available Front Cross-Traffic Alert is designed to detect vehicles that may be approaching from the side, so you can enter traffic at intersections with added safety.
Front and Rear Parking Assist With Automatic Braking
When the system detects there is a possibility of contact with an object or vehicle, Toyota Crown’s available Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking (PA w/AB) sends audible and visual warnings, and, in certain conditions, may automatically apply the brakes.
